Exterior Renovation Approval Process

At least 20 days before starting an exterior renovation project, please submit your plans to the SMX Development Control chairperson Rob Grom (rj.grom@gmail.com) for review, along with a project approval form. 

Fences can be no higher than 48 inches, unless your home is on a perimeter lot or the fence is enclosing a pool or small deck. Fences and sheds (called “outbuildings” in the bylaws) require a board vote, but sheds have never been approved.

Even replacing an existing fence requires board approval. 

If you are planning to paint your house, please choose a color that is within the palette of the majority of the homes in neighborhood. The same standard applies to exterior door paint colors. Please contact Rob Grom if you are repainting your house to confirm paint colors.

Renovation signs are strictly prohibited and dumpsters require approval.
